Course Objectives

By end of this program the students achieve the following learning outcomes and will be able to:

  • Understand the evolution and structure of the global esports industry and its relationship with game design and development, marketing and esports event production (knowledge).

  • Analyze the esports ecosystem, applying knowledge to esports operations and community engagement (cognitive skills).

  • Apply project planning, marketing and management skills in the corporate esports and gaming sector (practical skills).

  • Demonstrate effective communication, leadership and adaptability skills in managing teams, presenting ideas and engaging in esports event production or publisher relations (soft skills).   

Qualification Details

Following the UK Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ), each credit equates to 10 hours of notional learning, which includes taught content led by a lecturer and independent learning. The latter constitutes being an active learner, taking responsibility for your workload, commitments and deadlines and therefore includes any work that is set outside of the classroom such as readings. This is a 30-credit course and consists of 300 hours of total taught and independent learning. Upon completion of the course (to reach 60 credits), students will be awarded with a certificate equated to FHEQ

Level 4.

Learning Strategies

The course employs several learning strategies to ensure the students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The learning strategies will be implemented to ensure students can demonstrate their understanding and practical skills during the 

course.

Introduction

The curriculum “Certificate Program in Esports  Management”, is developed in alignment with the UK Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) Level 4. The program is designed to provide students with an understanding of the esports ecosystem, event management, fan engagement and essential soft skills.

Course Description

The course comprehensively explores the esports industry, covering its definition, history, key stakeholders, event management, publisher relations, fan engagement and operations. Students will engage in conceptual analysis of esports and develop the skills needed to work across various industry functions. Through practical

project management, event production and planning exercises, students gain not only

industry-specific knowledge and personal and professional development, such as adaptability, communication and team management.
